Men: have you checked your bathroom cabinet recently? If you live with a woman, or several, the answer to that is probably “why bother? It’s not my place.”
However, many men don’t pay enough attention to their own needs when it comes to personal grooming habits. They are also often not aware of what is expected of them by their opposite gender either.
If you want to be a man’s man, you’ve got to be prepared to fulfill at least a few of these needs and desires.
Personal Grooming: The Secret to Looking Good
Here’s the thing, if you want to look your best, you need to pay attention to your grooming habits.
Most men that don’t really care about their appearance make this mistake: they feel like they are fine to just wake up and go but this is often not the case!
Here are a few things you should keep on hand to make sure you look your best every day.
Moisturizer
That’s right; men need to moisturize too. This at first may seem like a feminine habit, but ultimately everybody has skin. It is the largest of all human organs and so it is really important to look after it. Having well-moisturized skin means that it is less prone to cracks and rashes and it will also heal better after shaving, for example. The most basic of skincare routines should consist of a cleanser, an exfoliator and a moisturizer.
Shampoo & Conditioner
Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner.
You should be careful when you pick the scent you use because different scents smell better than others, but it might take time for you to find something that really works for you.
A Good Mirror
A mirror that presents a good, clear image of yourselfis essential for grooming. You need to be able to see how you look before you leave the house. This way, you can tell if your hair’s out of place or if you look ready to go.
Get a good full-length mirror if possible, this will allow you to check your whole look and make sure any accessories like your watch or your Men Rings look right and not out of place.
Shaving Cream
Men have to shave by some description. Whether that’s a clean shave or taming the Viking beard, make sure that you’re getting a good shaving cream that will keep your face smooth and rash-free all day long.
While we’re on the note of shaving, always opt for a proper metal safety razor. Not only does this cut down on single-use plastic in your bathroom, but proper safety razors are much better for your skin and always give a better shave.
Sunscreen
You can’t go to the beach without sunscreen, so why should you forget about it in your day-to-day life? It’s a man’s responsibility to protect his face from the sun.
If you’re already investing in a good moisturizer, getting one with a minimum SPF 15+ is an easy way to use sunscreen too.
This may be easily overlooked by some, but this is a major mistake in the long run: You’ll have a lot more wrinkles without it!
Glasses Cleaner
This is a really important one if you wear glasses. You know how gross they get if you don’t clean them properly all the time.
Keeping a good cleaner on hand will make all of the difference and will keep your glasses clean and comfortable.
